Q1: Why isn’t my ITV card installing or working at all?
|
| |
A: In order for you to use the full capabilities of the ITV, you must have DirectX 9.0c or higher installed on your system. DirectX 9.0c is included on your installation CD should you need to install it. You should also make sure you are using the latest drivers and software, which you can get from the Downloads section of our website.
|
| |
Q2: What Operating Systems (O/S) does the ITV Series support? |
| |
A: Currently, the installation CD includes WDM drivers for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP. If you need drivers for other operating systems, please see our website.

| |
Q3: How do I copy video to a CD? |
| |
A: You can burn recorded video to CD or DVD using third party CD burning software. After capturing your video to an MPEG or AVI file, burn it to CD using your CD burning software. If you wish to make a VCD/SVCD/DVD, be sure to select the VCD, SVCD, or DVD profiles from the Record Settings of the Items software.
|
| |
Q4: What can I do when the TV card hangs, or conflicts are shown in the Device Manager? |
| |
A: If your computer behaves erratically, or locks up when starting the TV Expert software, you are probably experiencing a device or resource conflict. Conflicts can be caused by different sources; here are some of the following known problems, and their solutions:
The TV card is sharing an IRQ with another device in the system
While our card can sometimes share an IRQ with some display adapter cards, our card cannot share IRQs with other devices, such as with a sound card, USB port, Network card, etc. You need to resolve the IRQ sharing problem by getting our card to use its own IRQ. If you do not have any free IRQs left in the system, our product will not work until an IRQ is made available, by disabling some other device to free up an IRQ.
The easiest way to get our card to have new resources assigned to it is by physically moving the card to any other PCI/PCIe slot. In doing so, this forces Windows Plug-and-Play to redetect the hardware, and to re-assign it an IRQ, a memory range, etc. Consult your system manufacturer for further help.
I can load the TV Expert application, but all I get is green lines, or my desktop background shows through the TV window
This also indicates a conflict or sharing problem, most likely with the display adapter. Again, try moving the card to another PCI/PCIe slot to resolve the problem, or try disabling some other resources. Consult your system manufacturer for further help.
I can see video, but I can’t hear any sound.
Please refer to the User Manual to make sure you have the correct audio settings. Also make sure that your sound card is installed and configured properly, and that the volume is turned up and not muted in Windows’ Volume Control.
I can see video, but I don’t hear any sound, and I use the audio cable.
First make sure that the Line out jack from the TV Card is connected to the Line in jack on your sound card.
Next, make sure that your Windows mixer settings are set correctly. You can check for this by double-clicking on the speaker icon next to the clock in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Make sure all the appropriate levels are set about 3/4 the way to the top. You can also click on Options – Setting recording and then set these levels the same. You may have to recapture your video.
|
| |
Q5: How to select the best recording format? |
| |
A: Select Setting menu and choose Recording.
Please select Record in MPEG 2 Format and size at 720x480
|
| |
Q6: I recorded some video, but there’s no sound in the recorded file. |
| |
A: Please refer the attachment.

If you have connected the Line out jack of the TV card (green) to the LineIn jack of your sound card (normally blue on most computers), you need to check some settings in the Windows Volume Control so that you can hear and record audio with your video. For external devices such as a camcorder or VCR, you can connect the audio directly to the Line In of your sound card, or use the Line In jack of the TV Card. Note that the composite and S-Video jacks transmit video signal only.
Windows Settings
1. Double-click the volume control icon (looks like a speaker) on the taskbar.
2. Be sure that the Mute option under the Line In slider is not selected, and that the Line In slider is not at the bottom of its range. This ensures that you will be able to hear TV audio through your system and that you can control the volume. Other settings are required for recording (see instructions below)
TV Expert Settings
1. Please select the Settings in the TV Expert Software and choose Device
2.Set the recording volume. Confirm your choice by clicking “OK”.

Q7: I’m having problems installing the CardBus. |
| |
A: First, make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements. Particularly, make sure your laptop PC has a true 32-bit CardBus slot; this is not the same as a 16-bit PCMCIA slot. (if you are not sure what kind of slot you have, consult your system manual, or contact your system manufacturer) The system will need at least a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 2.0GHz or higher (or Centrino 1.3GHz or higher), and 256MB of system RAM.
Second, make sure that you have DirectX 9.0c or higher installed before installing the CardBus and its software. DirectX 9.0c is included on the installation CD that comes with your unit.
If you are still having problems, make sure that your computer has the latest drivers, such as its display, PCMCIA/CardBus, and sound drivers. You may also need to update your laptop’s BIOS to the latest version. Contact your system manufacturer for information on updating your system drivers and BIOS.

| |
Q8: I get snow/static in the picture, even though I’m watching digital TV. Also, the snow/static looks like vertical bars. |
| |
A: To fix this problem, you need to update your system BIOS to the latest version. Contact your system manufacturer for information on updating your system BIOS.
|
| |
Q9: I just started the TV Expert application, and there are no digital TV channels! (Digital TV) |
| |
A: You need to scan for available channels – click on the Scan button on the left, choose Auto Scan, then click on Scan. The DTV application will search for channels in your area, and automatically add them to your Channel List. When it finishes, click on OK.
